When I started internet marketing, I was shown the whole process from beginner to expert.
I liked hearing all the big earnings by internet marketers. But when I checked the steps to the earning, it was intimidating, even scary. I saw all the tech, all the third party apps/software, the deep learning curve and the seemingly moving target.
So, I went on learning without implementing, hoping to ‘know enough’ before I started. My teachers encouraged me to buy more tech, learn them, so that I would ‘hit the ground running’.
But it was taking forever, and newer and ‘better’ software and training were being presented to me on a daily basis. This is what is called shining object syndrome which leads to information overload. This inevitably results in indecision, or changing decisions rapidly, then paralysis.
This is where you don’t need to be.
Do you know that I have not used most of the apps, software and training I bought in those early days. Needless to say that many of them were a complete waste of money.
It is even more damaging to your psyche. You may run out of confidence and consider yourself unfit for any kind of earning in internet marketing.
About 70 per cent of internet marketing start-ups bow out at this level.
Somehow, I got a new mentor. And he asked me to stick out my neck with what I already knew.
So, I started and it was the best decision I ever made.
Keep This In Mind As You Start Your Internet Marketing
Later, as I mixed up with other internet marketers, I realized that many others before me started with very little knowledge of internet marketing.
In fact, many people who failed at internet marketing were those who wanted to know everything before they started. That’s almost impossible because you can’t know it all. When they get bombarded by all the tech and process, they chickened out.
I think every beginner should start with the basic knowledge. This is one business you learn more as you practice. All you need to know for a start are the basic things.
That is why you need to keep many of the so-called gurus and their products at arm’s length. Don’t get me wrong, you need expert advice but not the type that will keep you learning forever. The gurus have relevant knowledge to make you succeed but many of them overload you with too much too soon. This is because they need to sell their materials or services to you.
When you have not started, or gone far, connecting all the dots is intimidating – even paralyzing. This business is much like the school system, where you take a class, pass it, before you enter the next class. The syllabus of the next class is not shown you until you get there.
My mission here is to encourage you to launch out and start your internet marketing business with the foundation you have or will find from this site.
I want to help you to start well, or to re-start with confidence.
One of the key things you should bear in mind is that there is really no short cut to anything that would last. Follow the direct, tried and proven, pathways for a sustainable satisfying business.
So, when someone presents you with certain ‘opportunities’, ‘loopholes’, ‘hacks’ or ‘secrets’, and wants you to take them in a haste, be careful. Such a stunt may provide you with a short boost and cash, but it will quickly fizzle out. People and organizations generally find out about those “secrets” quickly, rendering them worthless.
Internet Marketing Success Starts With the Right Niche
The first very thing you need is to decide on your niche. A niche is a market segment to concentrate your efforts, provide information and market products to. Your niche is what you are known for, therefore, people (readers and customers) will find and follow you because of that niche.
Even if you know little on that niche right now, but love to learn more of it, you will soon get known and trusted as you produce your niche contents.
Examples of some evergreen niches are:
- Health
- Fitness and weight loss
- Dating and Relationships
- Pets
- Self-improvement
- Make Money on the Internet
- Gadgets and Technology
- Personal Finance
- Education and Learning
These are broad niches. It is always best to take a niche within a niche… that is called a micro niche. For example, back pain is within health niche, German Shepherd dog is within pets, wedding planning is within relationship, affiliate marketing is within internet marketing and so on.
The purpose of a niche site is to direct your articles and other contents toward the type of internet visitors you would like to attract, while those that don’t fall in will not come your way.
Choosing a niche for your online business helps you to make progress quicker because:
- It helps you to concentrate on a specific human interest area.
- It brings your way only those who are interested in that niche.
- It makes your site easy to search online.
- It helps you connect with advertisers, sponsors, or other businesses.
- It keeps you on a focused path so that you develop relevant contents, attract related adverts and sell products easily.
So, you see, if you want to be successful online, your chances of success are significantly increased if you select a niche that you are passionate about and/or have a strong drive to explore and learn.
Some online businesses choose a niche mainly because they think it will bring in a lot of money very fast. While monetization of your site is valid factor in choosing a niche (you need to make money) but if that’s your only motivation, you should to re-examine your choice of niche now.
You need a drive, a passion for your niche to remain in business creating value for the long term and making money consistently. If that passion is missing, you will have a difficult time connecting with your target market. This will easily lead to frustration or boredom, making it a burden to work on your site.
Those who have been able to achieve success, and remain successful, in a changing internet market and are those who deliver unique value regularly.
Visitors to your site, and buyers of what you offer, exchange their hard-earned money for the value you provide in your write-ups. So, the more value you provide, the more repeat visitors…and more money!
I suggest you take time to weigh your niches and make a choice. I am giving more resources for you to make a good choice.
Remember, when that choice is made, you are almost ready to launch.
This site will help you out of the indecision in internet marketing.
